Amplifying Indigenous Voices at Your Library:
Taíno Language Revival (Recording)

The largest Indigenous group in North America is one you've probably never heard of. The Taíno.

They were the first Native Americans encountered by Europeans in 1492. They and their language were thought to have gone extinct hundreds of years ago. Turns out there are an estimated 17 million+ Taíno descendants living in the United States today. Including in your community!

Watch this recording of a presentation from Priscilla Colon, creators of the world's first online Taíno language course. You'll learn:

Who are the Taíno
How Taíno language and culture are relevant to your community
Why Indigenous language reclamation matters
How your library or school can get involved with Indigenous language & culture advocacy
